Our route takes us past picturesque villages and the historic island of Salamis, the site of the legendary naval battle between Athens and Persia. Our first stop is the awe-inspiring Corinth Canal. The Corinth Canal finally opened in 1894. It separates the Peloponnese Peninsula from the mainland of Greece and connects the Saronic Gulf (part of the Aegean Sea) to the Corinthian Sea (part of the Ionian Sea). Sometimes you can stop and stretch your legs by walking across the canal on a pedestrian bridge. You can also get closer to the canal and enjoy the stunning views. If you are feeling adventurous, you can even try bungee jumping there. Make sure to take pictures of the breathtaking scenery of the narrow passage. Pass By: Let’s proceed with our exclusive journey, traversing the awe-inspiring landscapes of central and western Peloponnese, en route to the ancient and hallowed site of Olympia. Our journey takes us to the historic ruins of Ancient Olympia and its compelling museum. As we stroll through this vast site, we’ll encounter significant landmarks, including the Gymnasium and Palaestra, where athletes honed their skills, and the workshop of Phidias, the renowned sculptor who crafted the awe-inspiring statue of Zeus. We’ll stand in awe before the Temple of Zeus, a testament to the grandeur of ancient Greek architecture, and make our way to the Stadium, the very arena where athletes from across Greece competed for glory and spiritual fulfillment, bringing honor to their cities every four years. Stop At: The Archaeological Museum of Olympia holds a unique collection, featuring the iconic statue “Hermes of Praxiteles”, known for its exquisite detailing and aesthetic perfection. It also houses a captivating array of tools that belonged to the legendary sculptor Phidias, who crafted one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: the majestic “Gold Ivory Statue of Zeus”.
