We’ll begin our third day with an exciting stop at the fascinating archaeological site of Delphi. This renowned sanctuary, dedicated to the god Apollo, is where divine oracles were given, influencing all who sought guidance. As we explore the site, we’ll have plenty of time to visit the impressive Delphi Museum, home to some of Greece’s most remarkable statues, like the Naxian Sphinx and the bronze Charioteer.
Continuing our journey, we’ll also take in the breathtaking Temple of Apollo and the Temple of Athena Pronaia in the Gymnasium – a true highlight of Delphi.
Our journey takes us to the charming town of Kalambaka, nestled at the foot of the awe-inspiring Meteora Rocks. After checking into our accommodations for the night, you’ll have a chance to explore this quaint locale and soak in the incredible scenery. The following day, we’ll venture up to the remarkable Byzantine monasteries of Meteora, perched atop towering rock pillars.
On the fourth day, we’ll visit the impressive monasteries of Meteora. Situated atop towering rocks, these ancient sanctuaries offer a rich history and breathtaking views. After exploring the byzantine monasteries, we’ll stop for lunch in Kalambaka before returning to Athens.
As we pass by Thermopylae, also known as the Hot Gates, we’ll be transported back to 480 BC, when the famous battle between the Spartans and the Persians took place. This legendary clash has become a symbol of bravery, sacrifice, and the indomitable human spirit. Upon our return to Athens in the late afternoon, you can choose to be dropped off at your hotel or another preferred location. - City Tax for Hotel Stays: Effective from January 1st, 2018, a City Tax for hotel overnights is applicable and not included in our excursion rates. Clients will need to pay this tax directly at their hotel upon check-out. The amount per room is as follows: 5-star hotel: €4/overnight || 4-star hotel: €3/overnight || 3-star hotel: €1.50/overnight
- Entrance Fees for Children from Non-EU Countries: Starting November 1st, 2019, children aged 6 and above from non-European Union (non-EU) countries will be required to pay the full entrance fee for Museums and Archaeological sites. For children from EU countries, the existing rates remain in effect. However, it is crucial to have their passports readily available to prove their nationality.
Persons with Disabilities
- Due to uneven surfaces, certain sites are not recommended for persons with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair. Such sites are the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, Mycenae, Delphi and Meteora
- In all cases, we recommend comfortable flat-solid walking shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
