Description of the wine private tour

Pass By: Our journey begins with a pleasant morning drive through Athens and its charming surrounding areas. As we make our way, we’ll pass through several notable towns, each with its unique history and significance. Megara, once reigned by King Bizas, holds a special place in mythology. It’s here that Byzantium city, later known as “Constantinople,” derived its name. Next, we’ll encounter Elefsina, a place steeped in ancient mysteries. The Elefsinia Mysteries, celebrated in this town, were significant religious ceremonies that played an important role in Greek culture.

From here, we’ll continue our drive through several resort towns, such as Ag. Theodoroi and Kineta, offering a glimpse into the region’s vibrant seaside culture. Finally, our journey culminates as we arrive at the famous Corinth Canal, an engineering marvel that cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. This impressive feat of human ingenuity has transformed the Peloponnese into an island.

We have planned a visit to two wineries in this region to explore their unique offerings and appreciate the local winemaking traditions.

Nemea is a wine-producing region in Greece, with vineyards located at an altitude of 200 to 800 meters above sea level. The dominant grape variety in this region is Agiorgitiko, known for its versatility and ability to produce a wide range of wines. Among these wines are the renowned V.Q.P.R.D., which are protected designation of origin wines with a specific set of quality standards and characteristics.

Nemea is known for producing different types of wines. Aside from Nemea wines, they also have excellent rosé and aged red wines. They also produce Local Wines jointly with other varieties, including Plagion, Pterotou, Argos, Peloponnesian, Plagion of Mountainous Corinthia, Corinthian, Klimenti, and Iliou. These wines stand out due to their delightful aromas and fruity flavors. The local rosé wines have unique rosy hues, while the red wines are ideal for aging, promising a complex and rich taste over time.

Wine enthusiasts should not miss out on Greece’s Nemea region, renowned for its long-standing tradition of producing excellent wines. The captivating vineyards of Nemea, situated in Greece’s most prominent wine-producing area, offer picturesque landscapes. At elevations ranging from 200 to 800 meters above sea level, Nemea’s vineyards produce remarkable wines that are sure to captivate visitors.

Nemea’s primary grape, Agiorgitiko, creates a range of wines. Among them is the notable V.Q.P.R.D., along with top-notch rosé and aged red wines. Other local varieties include Plagion, Pterotou, Argos, Peloponnesian, Plagion of Mountainous Corinthia, Corinthian, Klimenti, and Iliou. These wines are renowned for their aromas and fruity flavors. The rosé, known for its rose-like hues, and the red wines are excellent for aging.

Location: Vineyards are on the southeast side of Corinth, between 250-800 meters above sea level. Climate: Winters are mild and have a lot of rain, while summers are hot. Grapes: Agiorgitiko is the primary grape variety grown in these vineyards. Wines: A variety of wines are produced in this region, including white, rosé, red, and dry wines.

Persons with Disabilities

  • Due to uneven surfaces, certain sites are not recommended for persons with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair. Such sites are the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, Mycenae, Delphi and Meteora.
